Paraguay residency without visiting is not possible in full: the application is made in person, and the cédula requires your fingerprints and photograph at the Departamento de Identificaciones in Asunción. What can be done remotely is everything up to that point, and the number of trips can be brought down to one.

Our package assumes two short trips. A One Trip add-on at $600 compresses the process into a single visit.

What genuinely can be done from home

Most of the work happens before you board anything.

Your birth certificate and police certificate are issued and apostilled in your own country. Sworn translation into Spanish is arranged in Paraguay from scans. Documents can be pre-checked against what Migraciones expects, which is the step that prevents a wasted trip. A notarised power of attorney, signed at a Paraguayan consulate or apostilled at home, lets a representative act for you on the parts that do not require you personally.

That covers the preparation, the translation, the filing strategy and most of the follow-up.

What requires you to be in Paraguay

Two things, and neither has a remote substitute.

The residency application itself is made in person. Migraciones takes the file with the applicant present.

The cédula is biometric. Identificaciones takes fingerprints and a photograph. No power of attorney replaces a fingerprint.

This is why claims of fully remote Paraguayan residency should be read carefully. Someone offering it is either describing the preparation phase only, or describing something that will not produce a cédula at the end.

Paraguay residency without visiting twice: getting it to one trip

The reason a second trip is normally needed is sequencing: the residency file has to progress far enough before the cédula appointment can be booked. Compressing it into a single visit means having every document pre-approved and the appointments aligned before you fly, which is what the One Trip add-on buys.

It is worth being plain about the trade-off. A single trip is longer on the ground and less forgiving if a document is queried, because there is no second visit to absorb the delay. Two shorter trips are the lower-risk version. Which is better depends on how far you are flying and how flexible your dates are.

What nobody can compress

Migraciones decides on its own timetable. Our published estimate is about three months, or six weeks with Fast Track, and it is an estimate. The Fast Track add-on at $675 changes how fast the file is prepared and submitted, not how fast it is decided, and Migraciones states that submitting documents does not presume approval and that further documentation may be requested.

If a provider quotes you a guaranteed date, that is the claim to ask about, not the price.

Before you book flights

Have the document list and the apostille requirements settled first, and know which residency route you are applying under. Those three decided in advance are the difference between one trip and two. Prices for each option are itemised on the pricing page.

Common questions

Can I get Paraguayan residency without ever going to Paraguay?
Not completely. The residency application is made in person, and the cédula requires fingerprints and a photograph at the Departamento de Identificaciones. Everything before those two steps — document legalisation, sworn translation, pre-approval and filing strategy — can be handled remotely.
How many trips to Paraguay does residency take?
Two short trips in the standard process, because the residency file has to progress before the cédula appointment can be booked. A one-trip option exists where every document is pre-approved and the appointments are aligned before you fly.
Can a power of attorney replace me?
For much of the follow-up, yes — a notarised power of attorney lets a representative act on the file. It does not replace you for the biometric cédula appointment, because fingerprints cannot be given by a representative.
Is one trip riskier than two?
Somewhat. A single visit is longer on the ground and has no second trip to absorb a delay if a document is queried. Two shorter trips are the lower-risk version; the right choice depends on how far you are travelling and how flexible your dates are.
