A Paraguay residency agency files your application at the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, arranges the sworn translations, and stands in the queues in Asunción that you would otherwise have to fly in for. It does not decide the outcome, and it cannot change how long Migraciones takes.
Our own residency package is $1,600, with the Paraguayan government fees included. Estimated timeframe is about three months, or six weeks with Fast Track.
What an agency does that you cannot easily do yourself
Migraciones does not require legal representation. The application is made in person, and follow-up can be done personally or through a representative. So the question is not whether you are allowed to file alone — you are — but which parts are genuinely hard from abroad.
Three of them are.
Documents that Paraguay will accept. Your birth certificate and police certificate have to be apostilled in the country that issued them, then translated by a sworn translator Paraguay recognises. This is where most files stall, and it happens before anyone has looked at your case.
Being physically present. Parts of the process require you, or a representative holding a notarised power of attorney, to be in Asunción. Our package covers two short trips, or one long one; a One Trip add-on at $600 compresses it into a single visit.
The steps after the approval. The cédula is a separate application at the Departamento de Identificaciones, not something residency hands you automatically.
What a Paraguay residency agency cannot promise
Approval, before validation. Migraciones states that submitting documents does not presume approval and that further documentation may be requested. An agency presenting approval as guaranteed before anyone has validated your documents is describing a decision that is not theirs to make. We guarantee approval only after your documents have passed official pre-approval, and that guarantee is in our contract.
Timing, in the strict sense. We publish about three months, or six weeks with Fast Track as an estimate and we mark it as one. The Fast Track add-on at $675 changes the queue we can put you in, not the authority's own pace.
Tax residency. Immigration residency and tax residency are separate statuses in Paraguay. Holding one does not give you the other, and an agency that blurs them is selling you a misunderstanding.
How to compare one agency with another
Ask for the quote split in two: the fees fixed by the state, and the professional fee. The first group is identical whoever files for you — Migraciones filing fees, cédula issuance, the apostille in your home country. The second is the only part that actually differs. A single bundled number cannot be compared with anything.
Then ask what happens if the file is rejected, whether the price includes the cédula or stops at residency, and how many trips it assumes. Our full list is the twelve questions we would ask a provider, written so it works against us as well.
Where we are
Paraguay Residents has operated from Asunción since 2022. The add-ons are priced individually on the pricing page rather than bundled, so you can see what you are and are not buying. If Paraguay turns out to be the wrong answer for your situation, we would rather say so on the call than after the invoice.
Common questions
- How much does a Paraguay residency agency cost?
- Our residency package is $1,600 and covers documentation validation, the temporary residency application, the cédula application, arranging sworn translations and two short trips or one long one. The Paraguayan government fees are included in that price; the sworn translator’s fee, USD 18 to 55 per page, is paid separately.
- Do I need an agency to get Paraguayan residency?
- No. The migration authority does not require legal representation. Whether you want help is a question of time, language and document logistics — the parts that are genuinely difficult from abroad are apostilles, sworn translation, and being present in Asunción when the file requires it.
- Can an agency speed up Migraciones?
- Not the authority’s own pace. A priority option changes how quickly the file is prepared and submitted, not how quickly it is decided. Our published estimate is about three months, or six weeks with Fast Track and it is an estimate.
- Does the agency fee include the cédula?
- In our package, yes — the cédula application is included rather than billed afterwards. It is worth asking any provider this specific question, because residency and the cédula are separate applications at separate institutions and a quote can legitimately stop at the first one.
